Dear Susan Auch:

Regarding: Your Recent visit and Autograph Session in Moose Jaw

I am writing on behalf of The Moose Jaw Kiwanis Speed Skating Club to say how thrilled we were you were able to take some time to spend with us. We had not expected you to give a presentation so your pep talk was a valuable bonus.

It was disappointing that the kids saved all their questions until after you left but I guess that's the way they are with famous folk. We were very pleased with the turnout. In case you weren't counting, there were about 35 skaters and another 25 or so parents and coaches.

You should know that Wally was working all week in a remote Northern Saskatchewan pharmacy (the name of the community escapes me) and he had been driving for 8 hours so that he could be there to see you again. He extends his regrets for not being able to attend the banquet due to another commitment.

The Club was happy to hear the Kinsmen had been able to bring in such a prominent speed skater for their showcase event of the year. Traditionally, they seem to have trouble getting beyond their list of hockey, football and baseball players. We are hopeful that you have started a trend.

Thank you again. I hope that your short visit to Moose Jaw was an enjoyable one and that you can visit with our skaters again sometime.

Sincerely,

Jim Connolly
Meet Coordinator and Fund Raising Co-Chairman

PS Your "moose" has special meaning to my 13-year-old son; it is his skater number.
